Lesson Scripture: Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

23 ELEMENTS OF PRAYER:

The twenty-three elements are found in the book of Matthew 6:9-13.

Introduction: Today we approach this subject of Prayer with the utmost observation. With the world being in such turmoil as it is we must realize that we possess the most powerful weapon in the universe, and that is the power of prayer. It is the most unused weapons because most do not believe it works and the blessings due to most people goes untapped and the blessings are forfeited, his BLESSINGS. Some people think that prayer is only for children, even in its simplicity a child could understand its awesome power.

As believers, you and I have a great challenge and responsibility to pray and without ceasing.

Matthew 6:1-13

1. Take heed that ye do not your alms (your charitable giving) before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

3. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11. Give us this day our daily bread.

12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Below is the breakdown of these elements:

1. RELATIONSHIP- OUR FATHER when we develop a relationship with God then we can rightfully say that He is our Father. Until we build our relationship with Him then we cannot legitimately claim Him as “Our Father”. When we embrace the Father then we are connected with Him this is how we know it's a true LOVE.

2. RECOGNITION- WHICH ART IN HEAVEN we recognize that He is above and not beneath. Anything unrecognized becomes uncelebrated, unrewarded, exits your life and so forth.

3. ADORATION- HALLOWED BE THY NAME, Hallowed refers to the holiness of God. It is a way of recognizing that God is holy and unmatched.

4. ANTICIPATION- THY KINGDOM COME be patient and not anxious.

5. CONSECRATION- THY WILL BE DONE when we dedicate ourselves this will allow his will to be done on our behalf.

6. UNIVERSAL- IN EARTH prayer has the power to reach all around the world. From heaven to earth, from earth to heaven.

7. CONFORMITY- AS IT IS IN HEAVEN prayer goes up to bring us on one accord which seals the agreement with God realizing that He is with us.

8. SUPPLICATION- GIVE US we humbly make our petition known because we can rightfully make our appeal. Coming boldly before the throne of grace that we may obtain what is due to us.

9. DEFINITE- THIS DAY we are positive and confident that this day is given by Him so that we can be certain to have a blessed day!

10. NECESSITY- OUR NEEDS

12. OBLIGATION- OUR DEBTS our obligations are to be paid to whosoever we owe, which opens the way for His greatest blessings. It is God's desire for us so much so that all of our debts are paid in full.

13. FORGIVENESS- AS WE FORGIVE if we are forgiven then we ought to forgive others as well, no matter what they have done to us.

14. LOVE AND MERCY- OUR DEBTORS no love, no mercy toward our debtors will get

15. GUIDANCE- AND LEAD US God's guidance system leads us down the path of righteous.

16. PROTECTION- NOT INTO TEMPTATION being tempted and moving out of his

17. SALVATION- BUT DELIVER US God always provides a way of escape for His chosen people.

18. RIGHTEOUSNESS- FROM EVIL our righteousness is as a filthy rag, so it takes His righteousness to clear us from the evil things.

19. FAITH- FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM faith unlocks the door to the kingdom and all of His becomes ours.

20. HUMILITY- AND THE POWER when we humble ourselves before Him, He releases the power to us, to have whatsoever we ask in His name.

21. REVERENCE- AND THE GLORY when we reverence Him, he gets all the Glory. All the Honor and the Glory belongs to Him.

22. TIMELESSNESS- AND FOREVER there is no time limit for God to answer because he's infinite. By the time we have finish praying he has already answered.

23. AFFIRMATION- AMEN so be it unto Him who deserves our time and attention, He awaits to hear our petition known to him.

Quote of the day: “Time with God is time well spent”
